This famous classical formula, also called Minor Bupleurum Decoction Pills or Heparex Extract, soothes the liver as well as tonifies and warms the spleen. It bears some resemblance to, and can be substituted for, Xiao Yao Wan, although that product also addresses blood deficiency.*

Function:
Dredges liver qi, soothes the liver, cools liver heat, harmonizes and resolves half exterior-half interior, transforms phlegm, tonifies spleen qi.

Indications:
Use for various applications:
1) harmonizes and resolves shaoyang syndrome (half exterior-half interior syndromes), including exogenous heat toxins that have moved in towards the interior.
2) stagnation and congestion of liver qi.
3) occasional menstrual issues due to liver qi stagnation, including premenstrual tension.
