Functions:
Nourishes blood, invigorates blood, nourishes liver, disperses cold, moistens intestines, frees the stool.

Indications:
Use as a tonic formula for deficiency of blood. As a blood builder, it is often combined with a qi tonic such as Astragalus Huang Qi. By itself, it is beneficial in support of hormone balances affecting menses, postpartum and fertility, and for warming the blood and uterus.
