Function:
Tonifies kidney yang, warms mingmen fire, nourishes kidney yin, nourishes blood, benefits jing, tendon and bone.

Indications:
Use as a tonic for deficiency of kidney qi and yang. A good general tonic for aged patients and following illness. Can be taken for long periods of time.
This classic formula dates back to the Ming dynasty, and is considered one of the two most important formulas for tonifying kidney yang. "Returning the right" refers to the right, or Yang, Kidney. It supports kidney yang and yin, thereby strengthening kidney qi. It is complemented by Zuo Gui Wan.

Directions:

Warnings:
Rehmannia Shu Di Huang, a relatively greasy herb, can aggravate phlegm and food stasis, causing bloating, nausea, or loose stools. Discontinue during colds and flu, as tonics tend to drive pathogenic factors into the interior.
Contraindicated when Kidney Deficiency is accompanied by Dampness or turbidity.
Avoid cold and raw foods while taking this formula.
